Μεγάλες περιβαλλοντικές μη κυβερνητικές οργανώσεις, όπως η Greenpeace και η WWF εγκατέλειψαν την διάσκεψη για το κλίμα που διεξάγεται στην Βαρσοβία, επειδή «δεν έχει κανένα αποτέλεσμα».
«Η διάσκεψη της Βαρσοβίας, η οποία θα έπρεπε να σηματοδοτεί ένα σημαντικό στάδιο στην μετάβαση προς ένα βιώσιμο μέλλον, δεν έχει κανένα αποτέλεσμα», ανέφεραν στην ανακοίνωσή τους οι οργανώσεις Greenpeace, Oxfam, WWF, το ευρωπαϊκό τμήμα της οργάνωσης Φίλοι της Γης, η Διεθνής Συνομοσπονδία Συνδικάτων και η Διεθνής ActionAid.
«Οι οργανώσεις και τα κινήματα που εκπροσωπούν την κοινωνία των πολιτών στις τέσσερις γωνιές του κόσμου αποφάσισαν να κάνουν μια καλύτερη χρήση του χρόνου τους αποσυρόμενες από τις συνομιλίες στην Βαρσοβία», επισημαίνουν χαρακτηριστικά.
Σύμφωνα με το διευθυντή της Greenpeace, Κούμι Ναϊντού: «Παράλληλα με την υπαναχώρηση της Ιαπωνίας, της Αυστραλίας και του Καναδά και την έλλειψη σημαντικής βούλησης από άλλες χώρες, οι κυβερνήσεις έφτυσαν στο πρόσωπο αυτών που υποφέρουν από την κλιματική αλλαγή».
«H Κίνα μπορεί να αλλάξει τα δεδομένα, αλλά δεν έχει ακόμη μεταφράσει τις εθνικές της προσπάθειες σε εποικοδομητικές δεσμεύσεις στις συνομιλίες αυτές», πρόσθεσε o Ναϊντού.
Η διάσκεψη της Βαρσοβίας ολοκληρώνεται κανονικά την Παρασκευή, έπειτα από σχεδόν δύο εβδομάδες διαπραγματεύσεων, οι οποίες στόχευαν στο να τεθούν τα θεμέλια της συμφωνίας που αναμένεται να συναφθεί το 2015 στο Παρίσι για τον περιορισμό των εκπομπών των αερίων που προκαλούν το φαινόμενο του θερμοκηπίου.
Τη δυσαρέσκειά της για το γεγονός ότι οι «οι διαπραγματεύσεις δεν προχωρούν» εξέφρασε και η Επίτροπος της ΕΕ για το Κλίμα, Κόνι Χέντεγκααρντ:
«Δεν μπορούμε να επιτρέψουμε στους εαυτούς μας να κάνουμε βήματα προς τα πίσω σε σχέση με το Ντέρμπαν, θα πρέπει να προχωρήσουμε», υποστήριξε αναφερόμενη σε προηγούμενη σύνοδο του ΟΗΕ το 2011.
«Στην διάσκεψη της Βαρσοβίας θα ληφθούν, το ελπίζω, κάποιες θέσεις, θα υπάρξει και μια άλλη διάσκεψη (το 2014) στην Λατινική Αμερική και η μεγάλη διάσκεψη στο Παρίσι το 2015 θα πρέπει να είναι μια διάσκεψη αποφάσεων κι όχι μια διάσκεψη γενικών συζητήσεων», σημείωσε από την πλευρά του, ο Γάλλος υπουργός Εξωτερικών, Λοράν Φαμπιούς.
Κατά τη διάρκεια της Διάσκεψη στο Παρίσι το 2015 θα πρέπει υπάρξει μια τελική συμφωνία, νομικά δεσμευτική για την μείωση της εκπομπής των αερίων που προκαλούν το φαινόμενο του θερμοκηπίου, για να περιοριστεί η υπερθέρμανση του πλανήτη στους 2 βαθμούς Κελσίου σε σχέση με την προβιομηχανική εποχή.
It would be really nice to see that there are true NGO's working for the people however this is the exact statements as made by many of these NGO's who become highlighted for a complete lack of transparency in the first place. Those mentioned in the article should be able to stand proud and inspire people into getting involved, however when those who do take advantage of the resources and funding available to them for false gain, they also abuse the time, energy and well being of those who often sacrifice their time for their own belief. Robbing the people tenfold.
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήI'd sincerely hope that Organisations such as the WWF, Greenpeace and ActionAid are true to their word and it's exactly this kind of damage which jeopardises the reputations of all those involved in NGO's as a result of such deliberate corruption.
However it's the exact same statement as trotted out by the President of ACTUP in 2009 when accused of illegally pretending to be a Doctor and defrauding the state for 15 years, (you can still see it on their blog) and yet after the ΥΔΑΣ Investigation proved them to be liars and fraudsters, they then attempted to sue those who exposed them and have recently been highlighted for far more serious implications as to their conduct.
This behaviour is also typical of those guilty who seek so desperately hard to protect their own reputations, despite being criminals that they trample on everyone in their way to try and hide their lies and involvement.
It's good to see some NGO's take the lead in providing a standard of responsibility which shouldn't be required of them other than for their own validity and for the peace of mind knowing that they are providing a genuine service which should be commended and respected by society, not dragged through the mud as by the ones exposed more recently.
